9 months agoThis English Cocker Spaniel was trained using an e-collar, which is important for her ability to walk past distractions off-leash, whether in an off-leash heel or freely exploring, with extreme reliability. However, the e-collar wasn’t the only tool used in her training; positive reinforcement also played a significant role in clarifying the behaviours she does correctly. The e-collar is extremely helpful for off-leash training as it helps correct unacceptable behaviours, such as not coming when called. As a result, her quality of life has vastly improved, allowing her to roam and explore freely in many places where off-leash activities would otherwise be impossible. It’s important to note that there is a right and wrong way to use an e-collar. 9 months agoOne cocker spaniel is free to run off lead whilst the other cocker spaniel is walking on a lead. This is because Bella, the black cocker spaniel, has exceptional recall and can therefore be trusted off lead. However, Alfie, the golden cocker spaniel, hasn’t started his recall training with me. That’s why Bella gets to roam free, while Alfie stays on a lead. Make sure you only let your dogs off lead if they have undergone recall training! #recalltraining #dogtraining #cockerspaniel
